Cassidy and Russell wanted some beautiful pictures done in California for their Agoura wedding portraits. Only a week prior, they were married in Utah before making the trip down for their reception. In addition, Cassidy’s family lives in Southern California. So we met up with these two before their open house reception to take some shots in the open fields hidden in the hills. You could forget your rock and roll, it was all country side. What was there not to love between the fields of gold and flower crown?
We decided to find these wonderful oak trees hidden in the back trails to get the perfect scenery for these Old Agoura wedding portraits. In addition, you cannot see the trails from the main road. The locals consider this a hidden gem. It was a perfectly sunny day in California with some gorgeous lighting. The California light peeked through the trees while it was setting behind the hills. The setting was a fantastic backdrop that really made Cassidy’s bouquet of red and yellow flowers pop.
Cassidy is all about family, so when it came to her big day her sisters were right by her side ready to lend a helping hand. They did Cassidy’s hair and makeup by adding in a braid to compliment her flower crown and giving her makeup a more natural look that truly made this bride glow.
Real moments are always the ones that end up being our favorites. Nothing posed, just two people that love each other being who they are. As you can see, posing can never beat real emotion of a bride and groom.
Sometimes it requires a little extra work by our amazing couples to get the shots we are looking for. There are a million thistles in the fields of Old Agoura. While pretty, these thistles get into everything. Everyone had quite a few in their clothing by the end, but it was worth it.

A hint of Los Angeles skyline with all the beauty of the a sunny California day made this Los Angeles Temple Wedding so perfect. We had a great time spending the day with this beautiful couple. Dedria and Shane are such a wonderful couple. We were able to help capture all the love and wonderful memories that they got to shared with friends, family, and each other on their wedding day. Do not forget those adorable dogs of theirs! It was so special to be able to capture the candid moments of the couple greeting their family and friends as they emerged from the temple. This unique Los Angeles temple wedding had beautiful plants and flowers, including those amazing olive trees. In addition, they were surround by the hustle and bustle of the city and the view of tall skyscrapers in the background.
The Los Angeles temple wedding was not the only thing that was incredible that day. Just when you thought the views in the morning were breathtaking the reception had its own share of beauty. The private home came complete with classic Ford motorcars and doughnuts. Also, can we take a moment to take about the food? Their food trucks had both delicious sliders and fusion street tacos that came with everything from carnitas to salmon. These food trucks provided guest with all you can eat, and the guests were grabbing these things so fast. Needless to say, no one from that wedding was going home hungry. The reception came to a conclusion by sending the bride and groom off through a tunnel of bubbles. Unknown to the guests however, we snuck in a few last shots at the top of the hill.
Look at these giant puppies! They two greeted us with such excitement even though they were not the most cooperative of subjects.
Such an unique idea for desserts on your wedding day. You can still have a little slice of traditional with a small cake. But when you are done, really go all out with a smorgasbord of gourmet donuts.
Hurry and toss that bouquet! Once you do, grab a slider. Because no bride should go hungry on her wedding day.

As you start to head inland in from Santa Barbara you start to hit some gorgeous sites and this Kestrel Park Santa Ynez wedding was no exception. Jenny and Nick were such a sweet couple and hearing much of their background story just makes your heart melt. First of all, they made a long distance relationship work from Hawaii to New York for three years. Talk about earning some frequent flyer miles! Not only did this wedding have love as much as beauty, but most of all it had Ohana. That family dynamic of all the Hawaiian influence in this wedding was a centerpiece in addition to the couple’s gorgeous ceremony.
With such a perfect love story, consequently they wanted a venue to match. A Kestrel Park Santa Ynez wedding is full of trees, a gorgeous castle like stable, and a beautiful garden with a lavender circle with three types of lavender. As a result it is the crowning piece of the venue. Ultimately, Jenny and Nick had everything a couple could want. Beautiful flowers from hellebores to peonies and an outdoor reception under the stars.
This blackberry lemonade reminded us of the Lavender Blueberry Lemonade from our Santa Barbara Lifestyle Photoshoot.
This stable was perfectly decorated with the natural floral covering the edge of the roof. At a Kestrel Park Santa Ynez wedding, even the horses feel like royalty.

Recently we got the opportunity to team up with Crunchies Natural Food to put together a Santa Barbara lifestyle photoshoot. We found ourselves tucked away in the hills at the beautiful Riviera Cottage. This wonderfully put together home was the perfect backdrop with its rustic copper ware and most noteworthy antique kitchen design. We came up with three food recipes and finally one beverage for the campaign. These included breakfast dishes like Strawberry Banana Pancakes (recipe below in post), a hearty fall recipe of a Thanksgiving Sandwich (to do something unique and different with all those leftovers), and to wash it all down a colorful Blueberry Lavender Lemonade. The pictures almost jump onto your taste buds. We can tell you from experience, everything tastes as good as it looks.
We enjoy cooking as much as eating, so putting this together was so much fun for us. Our couple, Britney and Michael, also had a blast learning some new recipes and the big hit was those Pancakes made from scratch with Real Maple Syrup! The antique stove along with cast iron pans made this Santa Barbara lifestyle shoot that much more unique and wonderfully tasty too. Our personal favorite was the Lemonade. Who would have thought that Lavender would be such an amazing addition to the purple and blue hues of the blueberry. Yum!
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 package of freeze-dried fruit crushed (we had strawberry banana)
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 cup heavy cream
2 eggs
4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
1 zest of a lemon and half the juice
Whisk dry ingredients together. Make a well and pour in the rest of the ingredients. Whisk together until everything is together but not over beaten, there should still be lumps.
On a heated skillet with brushed canola oil, cook each side until lightly browned. Keep in heated oven on low heat until ready to eat. Top with extra butter and real maple syrup.
We love the look of copper on film. These adorable containers with flour and sugar gave us some of our basic ingredients for our homemade pancakes. Breakfast is good for anytime of day!
Here comes the lavender lemonade. It reminds us of a wedding we got be a part of Kestrel Park. Lavender is a popular flower found at many venues in Southern California. So smelling it in this sugary summer drink takes us back to some of those wonderful venues.
